==개요==

성문음을 접근음으로 발음하면 아무런 장애 없이 그냥 모음이 되어 나온다. 때문에 [[MPA]]원칙도 이 발음을 적지 않는 것을 원칙으로 한다. 조음하려면 반드시 필요하지만, 그렇기에 이것을 문자로 쓰는 것 자체가 의미가 없다.

마치 자연수를 적을 때 맨 앞에 0을 굳이 적지 않는 것과 같다. 000001이든 0001이든 01이든 1이든 어차피 다 똑같기 때문이다.

형태소적으로 이 발음을 적을 필요가 있는 경우에 한하여 표기한다. 이를테면 한국어 초성 ㅇ의 발음.

비공식 IPA 기호는 [ ∅ ]인데, 이 기호는 [[전설 중고모음|전설 평순 중고모음]] [ ø ]와 혼동할 여지가 커서 [[MPA]]에서는 동그라미가 세포분열처럼 두 개로 갈린 [ % ]기호를 사용한다. 또는 0분의 0, 즉 아무 의미 없는 발음이라 해석할 수도 있다.

하여튼 이것은 어떠한 음가도 없는 상태다.
