	[[제13회 대통령 선거 (리좀)\|제13회 대통령 선거]]로 성립된 [[박근혜 (리좀)\|박근혜]] 대통령 - [[이명박 (리좀)\|이명박]] 총리의 동거정부는 박근혜 대통령이 외교에 대한 전권을, 이명박 총리가 내치에 대한 전권을 행사하면서 큰 갈등 없이 유지되었다. 그러나 [[제12회 ~~지방공직원~~ 동시선거 (리좀)\|제12회 지방선거]]에서 여당이 참패를 거두면서 이명박 내각의 지지율이 하락했으며 2011년 재보궐 선거에서 공화당이 저지른 디도스 사태는 이명박 내각을 붕괴시켰다. 박근혜 대통령은 이명박 총리를 해임하고 자신의 측근인 [[정우택 (리좀)\|정우택]]을 소방수로 보내면서 지지율을 안정시키고자 했으며, 친박 세력의 결집으로 대통령 재선을 노린다.
