민국 38(民國三十八)은 가장 대표적인 대체역사 소재 중 하나인 중화민국의 국공내전 승리를 가정한 세계관입니다.
민국 38년(1949년) 중화민국의 국공내전 승리 이후 중국과 동아시아 국가들을 중심으로 변화한 여러 정치, 사회, 문화, 역사를 중점적으로 다루고 있습니다.

삼민주의는 우리들이 따를 길

100여년 전, 부패하고 무능한 만청 권귀들에 맞서 새로운 길을 개척한 이들이 있었습니다.
군벌과 토호열신에 맞서 그 길을 이어가고자 한 이들이 있었습니다.
왜구와 아구에 맞서 그 길을 지키고자 한 이들이 있었습니다.

하지만 그 길은 "인민해방"을 외치던 위정자 - 공비들에 의해 파괴되고 더럽혀졌습니다.

오늘날, 100년 전의 그 길은 더 이상 형체를 알아보기 어려울 정도로 부서졌고 잊혀졌습니다.

부서지고 잊혀진 길 위에서 그 길이 향하던 곳을 바라보며 상상해봅니다.

과연 그 길을 따라갔다면 어떤 광경이 펼쳐졌을까요?

상세

2030년 기준 지도

1936년 12월 12일, 본래라면 시안사건이 일어났어야 했을 그날, 장제스는 다이리의 의견을 수락하여 장쉐량을 체포했다. 따라서 장제스의 감금과 이로 말미암은 본래의 제2차 국공합작의 성립은 없는 일이 되어버렸고 역으로 실제로는 무산되었던 제6차 초공작전이 실행되었다. 결국 시안 사건의 불발이 불러온 나비 효과로 인해 일어난 제6차 초공작전 중 중국공산당은 지도자인 마오쩌둥이 국민혁명군의 폭격으로 인해 사망하고 옌안 해방구를 상실하는 등 치명적인 피해를 입게 되었다.

이에 중국공산당은 류사오치를 새로운 지도자로 선출하는 한편 소련의 지원을 받아 친소 성향의 군벌인 성스차이가 지배하던 신장으로 제2차 대장정을 감행하여 신장으로 근거지를 이전하였다. 1937년, 일본의 침공으로 인해 중일전쟁이 발발하자 장제스와 국민정부는 군벌 및 제3당과의 거국적 협동 체제를 성립시키는 한편 소련의 지원을 목적으로 공산당과의 제2차 국공합작을 성사시켜 본래 역사와는 조금 다른 방식으로 제2차 국공합작이 결성되었다.

1941년, 태평양 전쟁의 발발로 인해 미국이 대일전에 참전하는 등 전황이 악화일로를 걸었음에도 불구하고 본래 역사와는 달리 일본은 끝까지 항복을 거부하고 '일억 총옥쇄'를 선택한 뒤 결호 작전을 발동시켰다. 이에 미국은 중국, 소련 등의 연합국과 함께 몰락 작전을 실행하여 일본 열도에 직접 상륙해 본래 역사보다는 늦은 1946년 4월, 일본을 항복시켰다.

전후 안정적인 통일 정부를 수립한 중국은 이윽고 폭발적인 성장을 이루어 미국, 소련을 잇는 제3의 강대국이자 일본의 빈자리를 매운 아시아 제1의 국가로 거듭났다. 또한 90년대 후반을 전후로 하여 완전한 민주주의를 확립하는 데도 성공하여 현대에는 미중소 3국 냉전의 한 축이자 완전한 민주국가로서 미국, 소련과 대결하고 있다.
